- Liberals: OMG how many more tragedies like this shooting will have to happen before we get more gun control in this country?? Oh wait, that will never happen because conservatives will never give up their precious guns! People should feel safe to go outside, gun control in America now!!
- Gun owners: Actually some of the countries with the highest rates of gun ownership have the lowest crime rates, guns are used tens of thousands of times each year in self defence, most of the times without shots being fired, and mass shootings like this only account for 0.1% of gun deaths so a massive violation of civil rights is not a proper response.
- Liberals: HOW FUCKING DARE YOU USE THIS TRAGEDY TO PUSH YOUR POLITICAL ADGENDA!!!!???!?!
Thank you, Captain Obvious. Incidentally, that’s also true of the US and nearly every geographically and economically similar nation on planet Earth.
On the other hand, Canada’s largest cities are still smaller than most US cities and there are far fewer of them. And Canada has a larger surface area than the continental US. So… fewer people, more square area, fewer metropolitan areas and smaller metropolitan areas. I’d keep going but frankly, I’ve made my point.
Spend 15 minutes on wikipedia before your message someone. It’ll keep you from looking like you have no idea what you are talking about.
And in response to your other message:
“is the name of your blog supposed to be ironic or are you just dumb?”
The name of the blog is a simple adjective and noun combination. Like red shirt. Or Like bad idea. Or pointless message. Or poor judgement. Or annoying troll. In my opinion, it’s not particularly ironic, nor particularly dumb. It’s just a name with a fairly straightforward association to the material found on this blog.
1st, without any criticism whatsoever, I’d be interested to know the source to your statistics. I’ve not seen those figures and although they seem correct, I’m big on knowing my sources.
2nd, the topography of those nations are one mitigating influence on gun violence deaths. Canada is roughly the same size as the US with 1/10 the population. That’s a lot more room in between citizens. States like South Dakota and Wyoming have gun violence death rates similar to Canada. A city like Toronto has more comparable stats to similarly-sized cities in the US.
3rd, other related crime. The UK for example has a MUCH higher rate of armed home invasion. Criminals know that law-abiding citizens don’t have guns so they invade the home, hold the residents at gun point while they rob the place, and leave. Much less common in the US.
4th, both Canada and the UK have significantly lower overall homicide rates (1.2 and 1.6 per 100K vs. 4.8 per 100K in the US). So, Brits and Canuks kill each other less so it follows that they’ll also use guns to kill each other less.
No, I don’t know why Americans are more homicidal. Movies, video games, media, bad parenting, over parenting, religious hysteria, not enough religion…. there are lots of bad theories out there. Bottom line up front, access to guns doesn’t kill people, people kill people. And criminals aren’t big on listening to laws. That’s why gun regulation doesn’t work well. It’s also why concealed carry holders are over 10 times LESS likely to commit a crime. If you bother to follow the laws and are eligible to carry, you aren’t the droids that law enforcement is looking for.
And to the moron from the UK who doesn’t understand gun regulation, your precious UK has 4 times the violent crime total as the US and is the most violent nation in the EU. All your criminals still have guns and all your law-abiding citizens can’t do anything about it. What you’ve gained in murder rate, which you didn’t gain anyway, you just have a lower overall homicide rate, you lost in every other violent crime category. Cheers from the colonies.
And yet they always say we shove our views down peoples throats when they are the ones who get so angry and vehement about it.
Thank you!! We always like to be told that our blog is appreciated. Our followers are sincerely the best.

See, I don’t even know what this is referring too?
It’s mindless emotive upset and offense. It’s not constructive, it does nothing to change my mind, it presents no information and makes no legitimate points. It doesn’t even attempt to do anything other than degrade me by calling me offensive names and making insinuations.
So, your solution for the rest of your life is that every time someone disagrees with you, you are going to calm them names and tell them they are stupid?? I’ll let you in on a little secret, it doesn’t work well once you graduate high school and it is even less effective after you graduate college.
And it’s NEVER effective with someone who thinks your irrational emotion is funny/sad/pathetic/what’s-wrong-with-our-country.
Big bad anonymous, strikes again on Tumblr! Are there NO liberals willing to ask a legitimate question or make a legitimate point and attach their name to it? Seriously, at this point, I’ll settle for liberals who are willing to attach their name to any message, regardless of it’s content.
Yet another quality message from “Anonymous.”
This was preceded by a message that simply read:
what the hell is your problem with gay people
The first one made me laugh (thank you, btw) and the second one puzzled me. I don’t have a problem with fags any more than I have a problem with people who sag their pants. It seems silly to me but it’s not illegal in most places and it doesn’t get in the way of my life so it really doesn’t bother me much.
I’d rather you be gay than talk loudly in the movie theatre. That annoys me to no end. Cheering or clapping or laughing is fine but keep your “clever” comments to yourself. You’re not funny.
Anyway, long story short, I don’t care that you are gay. I do care that your too much of a bitchy pissant to put your name on your rude messages, but hey, it’s a free country.
I get that many of you Tumblr-types are more or less indoor people and haven’t seen let alone operated a military “assault” weapon so allow me to point out a few things.
A. ALL civilian rifles sales are semi-automatic. There is no such thing as a true “assault” weapon in the US.
B. A conventional semi-auto hunting rifle fires exactly as fast an AR15 carbine: as fast as you pull the trigger. It won’t shoot bullets any faster. Ever.
C. The only difference between an “assault rifle” and a regular rifle (other than “assault” weapons look like the guns in the movies and are all gangster and G’d up and scene or whatever the kids are saying these days) is that you can reload them faster, which doesn’t make a lick of difference unless you’ve had extensive training and thousands of rounds of range time. None of which this idiot appears at this point to have had, being a neuroscience/med school dropout.
D. 99.9% of shootings end 1 of 2 ways. A civilian or officer of the law WITH a gun stops the shooter. Or the shooter kills themselves. Active shooters are NEVER stopped by legislation. Or tighter gun laws. Or screaming “no, not me, I believe in tighter gun regulation.”
E. Idiot died his hair red and called himself the joker. What, watching the last movie and getting the hair color right was too hard? I mean, you’re gonna be on TV for this killing spree, maybe you should have paid some attention to your costume. Clearly, this guy was a fucking moron. My spouse and I are praying for the victims and their families. And you can bet your ass that when I go see the movie tomorrow, my .45 isn’t staying in the car.
Anonymous strikes again!!!!
Again, if you’re too much of a panty-waist whiner to put your name on something, I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.
Let me ask you a question back since you are clearly following my blog or at least checking it regularly.
Do you reallly think that whining some more is going to make me care at all? Do you really think that saying you hope all the horrible things that have happened to you happen to me is going to make it happen? OR in anyway help me to understand your viewpoint?
Again, the more you whine, the faster you reply to my random posts on Tumblr, the more you prove my point that you have plenty of time and energy to be doing something productive and useful in society.
Bottomline, no matter how much your life supposedly sucks, you are not entitled to my money. It’s legalized theft that my taxes supports your ability to play on Tumblr EVERYDAY and leave pointless messages.
A recent message in our inbox.
1. I don’t know who you are since you’re too much of a panty-waist to submit your question anything but anonymously.
2. I don’t remember leaving any question unanswered but maybe my spouse deleted it because it was useless drivel.
3. If you have enough time and energy to hound me on Tumblr, you have enough of both to work from your home at your computer. Same muscles, same time requirements.
4. Again, you’ve contributed nothing other than a vague accusation and lots of emotional pathos and general whining. Classic liberal argumentative strategy.
5. And even if you do have some sort of point, I still don’t and will never agree that the government should forcibly take my money and give it to you. I’m all for charities. I loath high taxes and government subsidized healthcare.
Welfare recepients, when will you learn!!! You only prove my point by whining on Tumblr!!! The more time and energy you spend whining about my opinions on welfare, the more you prove how right I am that you are lazy people, using my tax dollars to pay for your lifestyle.
